What is the E.U. doing?

  What do the EU do?

The EU (European Union) consists of 15 members which are: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the UK. The E.U meets and discuss issues such as trade, world issues, , other countries, law and enforcement, and standard and regulations.

Recently issues and have included, sustainable renew power sources, reducing emissions, global warning and long term effects of the above issues.

The European Parliament

The EU has a responsibility to it's countries that it represents to rise standards in the well being of the county it represents and the other represents in the EU countries. 

So what are they doing?

So far they have agreed on some targets to cut the amount of CO2 emissions given out by cars and to investigate in to different ways of renewable resources.

 

The E.U has 5 main goals they want to achieve. They are:  

1. Promote economic and social progress.
Help people earn enough money and get treated fairly.

2. Speak for the European Union on the international scene.
By working as a group the EU hopes that Europe will be listened to more by other countries.

3. Introduce European citizenship.
Anyone from a member state is a citizen of the EU and gets four special rights.

4. Develop Europe as an area of freedom, security and justice.
Help Europeans to live in safety, without the threat of war.

5. Maintain and build on established EU law.
Make laws that protect peoples rights in the member countries.
