Grand Theft Auto

Grand Theft Auto is another violent video-game success story. The player controls a seemingly normal

explosion

person, who works his way up the criminal chain by committing various felonies.  These crimes are equivalent to those that can be held accountable for why we have sentences like life in prison. The player’s character can participate in gang wars to gain gang turf, picking up hookers, buying drugs, killing cops, killing civilians, and of course, hijacking vehicles. The newest installment of the game for Play Station 2 is called "San Andreas"; this version of the game features explicit content, such as, going to a strip bar and having a strip scene take place, and an abnormal use of language. These games meant bad news for parents who do not like exposing their children to excessively violent video games.

Within the game you can do real life things by doing mini games. These include dancing in the club, playing pool, showing off your hydraulics in your car, and even picking up a hooker. In every game all you have to do is steal a nice car, honk at a skimpy dressed woman off the street, and find an isolated location. Then you watch as your car bounces from side to side. But one of the most controversial mini games of Grand Theft Auto is a mod, short for modification, called the Hot Coffee Mod which allows you to actually have sex with your girlfriend.

The Hot Coffee Mod just as every other mini game is just following directions and continually pressing a series of buttons to accomplish your goal, in this case making your character ejaculate. You can change settings, clothes, and positions in the mini game so that you get maximum pleasure. This cheap idea of a mod allows you to basically direct your own adult film. The name Hot Coffee came from when your character asks your girlfriend if she wants to come in for some coffee. Originally put inside the game, the idea for the mini game was abandoned, but a 37 year old man from the Netherlands named Patrick Wildenborg realized he could bring the controversy out. He was able to mod the coding and allow for your character to access the Hot Coffee Mod. Oddly enough Rockstar, the developer, left the scripts open for mods and also made it so that the mods did not violate the license agreement.

This creates one of the biggest controversies for parents who are afraid of what types of games they are buying for their children, but to be honest, the ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board) rates certain games M for mature for a reason. A game rated M only allows people 17 years of age or older with I.D. to buy the game, so parents watch what your kids are playing.
