Sponsor walk

Fund raising for Foundation Ukunda Schools Project.

Primary school De Wadden will organize / organized a charity walk in June 2006. On this page you can read how you can organize a charity walk yourself.
Students will have 2 weeks to find as much sponsors as possible. Sponsors have the choice to pay students per round or to pay them when they succeed in finishing the charity walk.
Names of the sponsors will be noted on a special form; if the form is full with names, then the student can get more forms.
We organized a similar charity walk in March 2004 and then we were able to raise 2.585,55 euro.
Hopefully we will raise more money next time for the schools in Kenya. The money will be donated to FUSP and they will use it to buy text books, pens, notepads and to renovate classrooms, build new classrooms and for desks.

How can you organize a charity walk for your school?:

If you want to organize a charity walk, then you need to keep some things in mind:

To think about :

  1. First you need to get permission

  2. Discuss what you want to do: walk, swimming, ice-skate, bike, etc.

  3. Be sure parents know what the kids will do and get their permission

  4. Think about strategies how you can persuade people to become your sponsor

  5. Try to get as much as possible sponsors: parents, family, neighbors, etc.

  6. Show sponsors the official form from the school, so they will know it is an official activity

  7. Explain to people what you will do for it

  8. If they are willing to sponsor you, then write down their names and let them sign your form

  9. Don't stop too early... keep searching for new sponsors

  10. At the end of the two weeks before the charity walk, you turn in the forms to your teacher

  11. be patients till the great moment: the day of the charity walk.

  12. After the charity walk you collect the money from the sponsors and you give it to your teacher.

We got permission from our teacher to show you the forms we use for our charity walk: sign in forms, the route, the time-cards, etc.

It is in Dutch alas, but maybe you can translate it with online translators into your own language.

Then you can adjust the information for your own situation at your school.

[ Click here ] to download the WORD document (it is in Dutch).

This was the way we organized our former charity walk.
The reason to held that charity walk was to raise money for the Ukunda Schools Project.
If you organize it well, then you can raise a lot of money for your charity project. There are other ways to raise money, of course, but a charity walk is easy to organize and it generates a lot of money.

So, in conclusion: we hope we gave you enough guidelines to organize a charity walk on your own school and we hope you will donate the money to FUSP.
