Solar Energy is a new and popular idea for reducing pollution and the burning of fuels. To make use of solar energy you would have to install a photovoltaic cell which will convert the photons from the sun into electrons. A PV cell is mostly made up of a semiconductor material called silicon.

          Solar Energy is a very good way of obtaining energy, but there are still a few obstacles yet to overcome. For one thing, the sun is usually not out every day. There could be a storm that could hide the sun for up to a week. If this happens then there could be a severe blackout. Also the sun does not shine during the night, which prevents using any electricity then. Also the cost of Photovoltaic cells are very expensive. Many homeowners would not agree to spend so much money. But the cost will even itself out when the owners no longer have to pay for electric bills. Also there could be a way of storing excess light from the sun, so it could be used during storms and nighttime. As well as the primary source of solar energy, there could be a backup energy source of wind power.

          There are many problems to try and get Solar Energy a prominent fuel source, but it is up to us if we are willing to put in the effort and eradicate Global Warming.
