There are many indirect effects of global warming but the main ones are the extinction of species, the growth of species, the change of landscapes, and the growth of disease.
The reason the extinction of species is an indirect effect of global warming is because some species can only live in certain climates in a certain place. If the climate is changed the species will die out. An example of this is the Coqui of Puerto Rico. They are dieing out right now because they are accustomed to the normal climate of Puerto Rico, which is about 62°. Since the climate is getting hotter the Coqui’s are dieing. Also animals like Polar Bears will die out because they cannot hunt for food. This is because the ice that they hunt on is melting from the increased temperatures.
The reason the growth of species is an indirect effect of global warming is because the species that live in warmer climates will have an increased habitat area because of the increasing temperatures. An example of this is the mosquito. They live in warmer climates so when there are more, then they will start to occupy those new warmer climates.
The reason the change of landscapes is an indirect effect of global warming is because when the oceans rise they flood the land. The lowlands especially get flooded because the ocean water can more easily flood lowlands. This will result in once fields, cities, islands, etc to become part of the ocean, swamps, bogs, ponds, etc. This change in landscape will also kill animals accustomed to the land not water.
The reason the growth of disease is an indirect effect of global warming is because with the change in landscape there will be more swamps. Animals that carry diseases like mosquitoes with malaria like to live in swamps. With an increased amount of favorable habitat for them there will be more of them resulting in more that carry diseases.
