Environmental / Problems / Overfishing

By 2050, it is estimated that 90% of all ocean life will be gone from the seas owing to overfishing. The nature of man is especially manifested in the oceans. The bigger the catch, the bigger their profits are. The more trips you make, the more the profits. When there are no more of a certain species, fishermen don't lose their livelihoods either - the very same mechanisms used to fish for salmon don't vary when it comes to cod, or tuna for that matter.

Most fishing is carried out on a small scale, with the processing factories being large. As a result, fishing as an industry is difficult to regulate. Norway and Indonesia are countries that have substantial amounts of fishing.

To offset this phenomenon, it is worth noting that fish can be reared in controlled environments for food. Such fish farms have been kick-started worldwide.
