Economic / Solutions / Investment Redirection

Green Technology and alternative energy is touted as the next wave after the smokestack industries of the Industrial Revolution and the Internet. Investors riding on this wave are likely to make a killing. The knowledge-based economy of the 21st century is increasingly less dependent on industry, but rather tertiary sectors like service. As such, the highly pollutive industries, already saturated, will have their investment transferred to that of green companies. Government investment in such corporations is especially controllable, with a capital investment in green technology boosting the sector greatly. Governments can also accord grants to inventors and developers of green technology.

As no industry can function without investment, the highly pollutive industries will die out, ushering in a new era of greener technology, brought on the back of greater investment. For the investors, they earn a profit, as for the environment, it is cushioned by such a policy.
