School Survey
Ok, the reason we did this is because, we were going
to interview Dolly Jacobs, and we couldn’t come up with any good questions to
ask her!!! We wanted to ask some questions that other people wanted to know and
would show interest in; so, we came up with doing a survey at our school to
find out what other kids wanted to know.
What we did:
Well, we figured that we’d get a variety of
different questions if we asked every grade in our school to write down 3
things they wanted to know about the circus. So, our principal agreed that when
the morning announcements came on, he’d tell the teachers to have their
students do just that. Then, we had the teachers place them in a basket with
elephant balloons on it, which we set up in the school library. Some of the
questions were good, and others were a little un-needed.
Some of our favorites were:
1. Do lions like
chocolate milk? Heh, that one was done
by a second-grader :)
2.
Why do they call it a circus? We never did find the answer
to this question...
3.
Have you ever been bitten by an elephant? This one was done by a
fifth-grader, obviously.
4. How is your family
life? It’s fine, thanks. Heh, just
kidding...
5. Why do you train
elephants, why not hippos? Do you have something against hippos?
Hmm...another tricky question.
6. Are dogs allowed to be in
the circus? If not, how come? This one was done by a
first-grader. To answer this, YES! We saw a poodle act at Circus Sarasota!
7. How long did it take
you to go through training? Did you have to go to an audition?Well,
a lot of performers are "legacies." If you want to know more about that

8. What is your
diet/what’re you allowed to eat? This
one was made up by our team, and we got a very surprising answer to this one
from Dolly Jacobs. Click here to see her answer.
