Population

Pinellas was the most densely developed and populated county for the longest amount of time. During the 1990's it increased by 69,823 more residents. Pinellas is the 5th most populated county in the state of Florida. It grew slightly by 8 percent for the 2000 census. It is becoming the most diverse, figures show. In Pinellas the Hispanic population has doubled to 42,760, far faster than the African-American population. This is happening because there are many Spanish-speaking immigrants.

This map shows that in 1990, 10-19.9% of the population in Florida was from immigrants.
