The Garrison Family

By Emily

Before the school was built, there were orange groves standing in its place. One of the families who lived on the land was the Garrison Family. The very first Garrison was Richard Garrison. He arrived in this area in the 1850's, after participating in the Florida Seminole Indian War. Once he settled in, he had a family and throughout the years, his family lived on that land. For a living, the Garrisons grew citrus. They owned 160 acres of orange groves in 1852. The Garrison and Jones families are cousins.

Garrison Family Reunion from the 1930's. Some Jones Family members are present.
