Pizza Records
Many people have turned pizza making and pizza eating into somewhat
of a competition. Here are some of the records people have set doing so.
-
The largest pizza ever made was 37.4 meters in diameter made at a market
in Johannesburg, South Africa. It was made in 1990 with 500 kg of flour,
800 kg of cheese and 900 kg of tomato.
-
The longest pizza delivery was from Capetown, South Africa to Sydney,
Australia (6861 miles) completed by Bernard Jordaan in March, 2001, but
was recently broken in 2004, on a journey to deliver a vegetarian pizza
from Feltham, England to Melbourne, Australia. The journey was over 10,000
miles.
-
In 2006, Cristian Dumitru of Romania ate 200 pounds of pizza in a week
which is more than his body weight. This broke Takeru Kobayashi’s
(competitive eating superstar) record. Takeru later argued that the pizza
that Christian ate had a too low ‘sauce:
cheese’ ratio to be actually be considered pizza.
-
As funny as it is, the record for most deliveries in one night was the night
OJ Simpson made his famous run from the cops.
