Altruistic chain e-mails seek benefits of others rather than more money or better luck.

Send this to all your friends to thank them.

Although these chain e-mails should be nice for the recipient to read, 64% of our interviewees said that they are annoyed or even angry or disgusted when they receive these chain e-mails, and 32% delete them without bothering to read them. Another 34% delete them after reading them.

However, on the positive side, 28% are happy or amused to receive these, and 8% will forward these e-mails to others after reading them.
