Part of most Life Support examinations is a minimum of one Incident. This is where you are presented with a situation and must use your Life Support skills to decide the appropriate course of action. We have made up 11 incidences for you to try out, each in a different location. Unfortunately, due to the varying nature of what is covered in each course, some incidences test knowledge that isn't contained in that syllabus. Consequently, we've indicated which incidences are suitable for each examination - a tick means yes, a cross means no! St John's Ambulance is separated into Stage 1 and the Other Stages, as some Secondary Schools cover only Stage 1, and where Stage 2 is covered, Stage 3 is also covered. Good luck!
St. John's Ambulance Stage 1 Candidates: Incidences which are ticked 'Yes' but have a star next to them means that you could do this scenario, but some of the instructions in the solution are not covered in Stage 1. You should instead perform the Recovery Position.
Red Cross - Administer First Aid: The most appropriate Red Cross course for this site is the 'Emergency Life Support' certificate. As such, each incident has been labelled whether it is appropriate for the 'Emergency Life Support' course separately.
