  Dynamite Dolphin Behavior

Did you know?
Dolphins are mammals, not fish. They are warm blooded like man, and give birth to one baby, called a calf, at a time.
If dolphins are not conscious they cannot breathe. That means they cannot ever go into a deep sleep; they'll otherwise suffocate and die. What do they do then? Well, they decided that they will sleep by letting only one half of the brain sleep at a time. Smart, isn't it? This way, they manage to get about 8 hours of sleep a day.
Signature whistle
When a calf is born the mother dolphin whistles repeatedly. Each dolphin's whistle is unique; the baby dolphin will remember her whistle and be able to always find its mother just by her whistle even amongst lots of other dolphin whistles!
