We Were in Science - Technology Fair 2007 ...

At the 5th of April we participated in our school “Science and Technology Fair” with our Waste Project.

We displayed all the materials we have done and answered visitors' questions.

We finished making “the aquarium” and the “rubbish can” just before the fair so that it was a good chance to display them as well.

We had a broken screen and did not know what to do with it. Then suddenly we found the idea of making an aquarium. Our teacher asked for the help of technicians if they could take the tube safely and wash the inside. The chef of the tech people, Mr. Akbulak , helped us so much in every step of this process. He took the tube in an open area safely and washed the left case with the water. Now it was ready for us!

We decided to cut some part from the top for putting water inside. We marked it by a pencil. Mr. Akbulak cut this part for us. Then we closed every small hole by special glue and waited for two days to dry.

Then we put water inside to test if there was any hole. After solving this problem we started to think about how we can illuminate the inside. Yoni went to the aquarium shop and learned how we can do it. Our teacher found a small electric bulb at home. Then we found a small flat piece from the computer case waste. We used it to reflect the light inside of the screen.

We attached these two materials to each other and then fixed to the top of the aquarium. Now it was ready…We found some aquarium staff and toy fishes and put them all inside. This was an incredible experience for us.

It really took too much attention in the fair!

We prepared a bulletin board about our visit to Exitcom to tell visitors what we have seen and learned there. One kindergarten teacher said their subject was recycling and asked if she could use this board in their class. She added it would be a concrete example for them so when the kids saw the pictures, they could imagine easily.

This also made us very happy to help the small kids to understand this important issue.

Here are some photos from the fair.
