Newton's Third Law

III. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

The object exerts back the same amount of force in not the same direction but the opposite direction.

This can be demonstrated with two pool balls.

If the cue ball (the white ball) runs into the eight ball, it will exert a force on the other ball (eight ball), causing the eight

ball to accelerate away to the other end of the pool table.

And at the same time, the eight ball will exert the same amount of force or energy

on the cue ball in the opposite direction, which causes the cue ball to slow down and stop.
