Capitalism and Democracy Capitalism is an economical system where the majority of industry and income is run by private corporations, allowing a free market and competitive prices. Capitalism is often linked with democracy, a government system based around equal rights for all citizens, where the people are the supreme power in the country. This system has only one real weakness, and that is the fact that corporations can abuse the freedom capitalism provides. Laws are therefore in place to prevent a single corporation to become too dominant. The USA is an example of a purely democratic nation. |
