I am interested in the Cold War because it is difficult to work out exactly what life was like for the ordinary people during this period in communist countries. This is due to a lack of sources about the citizens, mainly due to the government wanting to maintain secrecy.

Jonathan

I wanted to do the Cold War because it is an interesting period of history and there is a lot that can be learned from what went on during this period. I think that is important for us to look at the struggle between the superpowers and hope that this will never happen again. We must understand the Cold War if we want to avoid total nuclear war. It is also fascinating because of the views of the people during this time, which varied from “Kill all communists/capitalists” to “Leave the other countries to solve their own problems” and the way the government reacted towards the varying public opinion.

I was interested in the Cold War because it was a war that changed history throughout the entire world. This was because enough nuclear weapons were made to wipe out the global popualtion. it was linked to many other wars and many films and computer games are based on the events that happened.

I wanted to take part in this project because I am interested in IT and making websites in particular. I am interested in the Cold War because of the massive scale that it was fought on. The weapons developed were able to kill hundreds of thousands of people instantly and almost every nation played a part in its outcome.

I wanted to do this website because I enjoy creating things in Flash and Dreamweaver. I also found the Cold War an interesting subject to make a website about. I wanted to learn more about the Cold War and try making an educational website. This was a great opportunity and I am glad I participated in this competition.

I wanted to do the Cold War because I was interested that it could have been the war that ended the world, however no shots were fired between at the time the two most powerful countries in the world. Also the fact of tens of thousands of nuclear missles being made for the sole purposes of frightening the other country, while proving that thier way of goverment was the best and more efficient. At this time we see USSR at its near most powerful from World War II leading into the Cold War and its eventual collapse.
