Thalamus

The thalamus occupies most of the diencephalon and is bigger than the other parts of the diencephalon. The thalamus is the main relay center for the sensory signals coming from the spinal cord up to the cerebral cortex and also to the cerebellum and brain stem. The thalamus also allows for reading of sensations, such as temperature and pain.
