Sweet spot The tennis racquet has sweet spots in it, because of the way it was created. Since the strings on the racquet are overlapping one another, there is different spots on it that have sweet spots. A sweet spot is when the ball is hit by the person he will not notice the impact or the vibrations in the racquet. If the ball hit in the area below the sweet spot of the racquet, the player will feel vibrations on the handle.

Dead Spot The dead spot of the racquet is right above the sweet spot of the racquet, which is located above the center of it. The reason there is a dead spot in the racquet is because the string tension is right next to the racquets frame, so the tension is shared between those two. As you hit the ball at the dead spot, all of the energy from the ball is transmitted to the racquet and the racquet does not transmit any energy to the ball. This is because the mass of the racquet is equal to the ball at that point.

Tennis ball The tennis balls are very well engineered. They were made so that when hit, only 30 percent of its energy will be lost from the collision with the strings. The ball compresses about 3 mm when dropped from 100 inches above the tennis racquet. If the ball did not lose any energy, it would be very fast and harder to control when playing the game of tennis. If the balls velocity is increased, the fraction of the energy lost also increases because of the greater collision between the tennis racquet and the tennis ball. The best place to have the strongest power and spin is when the tennis ball has collided with the center of the strings. Since the center of the strings are equal in tension and evenly apart, the ball will move a lot faster and there wouldn’t be any vibration.

Ball Spin The tennis ball can have a variety of spin. The topspin allows a racquet to hit around the ball causing it to move fast and dropped suddenly due to the spin that was acted on it. Because of the topspin, the tennis ball is moving very quickly downward with gravity. Due to greater sized racquets, the topspin can be easily perfected and used throughout a tennis match. The slice is using the tennis racquet and chipping the ball on an angle with the tennis racquet. The slice actually makes the ball moves slower in the air than topspin because of the spin that is put on the ball. The spin is on the outside of the ball makes it go up towards the air and slowly fall down because all the spin as created at the bottom of the tennis ball, so it is going against gravity.
