Mount Saint Helens has been around for a LONG TIME!
After 123 years of no movement,Mount St. Helens awoke on March 20, 1980.
It erupted when a magnitude 4.2 earthquake rumbled below it. A lot more
smaller earthquakes followed. Seven days later, the first steam-explosion

of April, even more explosions had expanded the crater. It grew to
more than 1,000
feet in diameter. In just two months, an area 1 mile long and half a
mile wide was pushed out 450 feet. This area is now known as "the
bulge." Mount Saint Helens has eruped few times, each time there
has been more blown off the top.
