Traditional Mexican Food
Mexican food comes from the bases of the Mexican Republic . This cuisine is characterized with colors, decoration and variety of spices. This type of food is one of the richest in vitamins, minerals and protein, so when you taste this food, you will get a healthy alimentation.
Each region has a different type of food. This variation comes from the climate and geographic differences. The Spanish influence had a lot do with this difference because they introduced new ingredients and methods to this cuisine that was created by the native's cultures. The South of Mexico is known for the use of chicken and spicy sauces. Seafood is commonly prepared in the region of Veracruz .
Although the prehispanic food is not common in these days, it is very well known in the contemporary culture. The prehispanic cuisine was basically created by the Aztec and Mayan cultures. They based their cuisine on insects or some kinds of ingredients like iguana.
When the Spanish conquered Mexico , they centered merely on the culture of the country. They modified the cuisine that we know nowadays. The baroque period in Mexico , helped as a modifier to the cuisine and changed much of the methods and ingredients.
