Skateboarding
HISTORY
The first skateboard was invented
sometime in the 50's. They were made from a plank of wood with rollerskate
trucks. Around the mid 60's skateboarding went mainstream when surfing companies
started manufacturing skateboards in the shape of surfboards. In the groovy
70's they invented wheels made of polyurethane. This sparked skateboarding's
popularity. The boarders who made the sport most famous were "The Z-Boys".
They originally consisted of Jay Adams, Tony Alva, Bob Biniak, Chris Cahill,
Paul Constantineau, Shogo Kubo, Jim Muir, Peggy Oki, Stacy Peralta, Nathan
Pratt, Allen Sarlo, and Wentzle Ruml IV.
