ARMY

Don Bartholomew is in the middle.

This is an example of the pillows that were sent out.

In the spring of 2005, our principal, Mrs. Green came across an article about an organization called “My Soldier.” The article gave an email address so Mrs. Green contacted them. “My Soldier” replied and put us in touch with Don Bartholomew. The fifth grade students became pen pals with Don Bartholomew and his troops.

Ms. Rowen, Ms. Diamond and Mrs. Fierro thought that making pillows to send to soldiers for the holidays would be a great idea. They bought the necessary materials to make the pillows. Each student wrote an autobiography and attached it to their pillow. All of the pillows were packaged and shipped off to make Don Bartholomew and his troops happy with homemade pillows for the holidays!

In appreciation, the soldiers sent bracelets and pictures to all of the fifth graders. All of the bracelets had “My*Soldier” written on them. Everyone was so excited!
