Every year our school, P.S.175 participates in a program called Toys for Tots. Kids from the school bring in new toys to donate to other children who need them. The website www.toysfortots.org states, “The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.”

The children of P.S.175 collected toys outside the main office. The hallway had signs reminding the students about Toys for Tots and asked them to donate new toys for a good cause. We wrapped up the toys and then Bob, an Army volunteer, picked up the toys. His friend is in the Marines and Bob was doing him a favor. We were expecting a Marine to come pick up the toys at our school, but since the terrorist attacks in New York City, military volunteers help out. They pack every toy in their own cars and bring them to a warehouse. Toys for Tots divide the toys and donate them to needy families.

Bob is a veteran, and continues to show his loyalty for his country. There are many volunteers in the United States like Bob.

We are proud that Bob is contributing his time to make the world a better place.
