Corporal Luis M. Berdecia is a United States Marine. He went to boot camp for
thirteen weeks to train so that he can be in the Marines. He says it
was very difficult. After training, he was in active duty for seven
months. With such hard training, a lot of people want to give up in the
Marines but Luis does not. He was determined not to quit even if
things got difficult. Luis says that in boot camp he had to wake up at 3:30am and get dressed to go to PE (physical education). After all of that he had to go to another type of training! After more training at 1:00pm he had a class for 2 to 3 hours because you need your education! Luis’s favorite meal at boot camp was cheeseburgers and fries. Luis’s least favorite meal was macaroni and cheese, sometimes the food tasted like rubber. Luis said he got two scoops of food each day because they thought he was skinny. They wanted him to get bigger. He had to finish all the food. Luis says that he always asks himself this question “Do I want to be here and fight for my country?” At the end of the day, he always has the same proud answer “yes”. |
