There are clinics that specially cater
for the Internet addicts. Usually located along quiet,
tree-lined streets, these clinics are distanced from
the noisy city. It provides a peaceful and pleasant
environment for the addicts to rehabilitate. Some
clinics in China have put together a standard diagnostic
test to determine whether someone is addicted, then
using a combination of therapy sessions, medication,
acupuncture and sports like swimming to help the addicts
get away from internet addiction. Patients also nap,
write diary entries or play cards. Their rooms are
sunny, each decorated with artificial flowers, televisions
and sofa. The facilities and treatments will ease
patients back into normal lives. However, if a person's
Internet addiction disorder has a biological dimension,
then medication such as an antidepressant or anti-anxiety
drug may be introduced to help them cope with the
quitting of their addiction.
Social
Network
Interpersonal interventions may include such approaches
as social skills training or coaching in communication
skills. Friends and family members are encouraged
to discourage the addicts from pathological Internet
usage. Talk to your family and friends about what
is happening in your life, discuss with them about
what you have done on the internet. Telling others
will help gain support, stop social isolation, and
promote the healing process. Remember, no man is
an island. Do not be afraid to admit your problems
to your family and closed ones and seek help and
advice from them – they are the ones who could
help you.
