Ocean warming/ sea level rise

Many tragic weather events have bean linked to global warming. The warmer temperatures increase melting of mountain glaciers, ocean heat, which causes ocean water to expand. This only aides to the already massive amounts of water pouring into the ocean from the melting ice caps. Over the past one-hundred years the ocean has already risen 4-10 inches, and the ocean level can only get higher.

Glaciers melting

Over the past 150 years, the majority of mountain glaciers have bean shrinking. Many glaciers at lower latitudes are now disappearing, and scientists predict that under some plausible warming scenarios, the majority of glaciers will be gone by the year 2100. As the glaciers continue to shrink, the summer water flows will drop severely. This will destroy an important supply that some areas rely on for irrigation for their crops in the summer.

Warming of extreme southern and northern areas

The extreme northern and southern parts of the earth have bean seeing more drastic warming events then the other parts of the earth. Parts of Canada, Alaska, Siberia, and the Antarctic have been experiencing warming well above the global average for the past few decades. In these areas, the melting is forcing the reconstruction of roads, airports, and buildings. It is also increasing erosion and the frequency of landslides. All of these things change the life and take away the necessities that plants and animals need to survive.
