Problem 1 The demand for energy is growing and fossil fuels are disappearing. Oil, coal, and natural gas can never be used again once consumed. This is leading to the solution of alternative energies. |
Solution 1 When hydrogen is taken from water we would have a substantial supply of fuel . Electrolysis is the process of separating water into hydrogen and oxygen. Renewable energy can be used to run electrolyzers which would create the hydrogen from water. Using renewable energy as power provides a sustainable system that doesn't need to use fossil fuels and is nonpolluting. Some of the renewable sources that can be used to power electrolyzers are wind, hydro, solar, and tidal energy. After the hydrogen is produced in an electrolyzer it can be harnessed in a fuel cell to create electricity. |

Problem 2 Most of the people who use fossil fuels don't live anywhere near the fuels they consume. For this reason more powerful nations that have a low amount of fossil fuels look to take over weaker nation with a high concentration of fuel for there own economy. This causes conflicts that could be better avoided if an alternative energy was found. |
Solution 2 Unlike fossil fuels hydrogen can be obtained locally. Hydrogen gas can be extracted by a central factory and then be given or it can be created onsite. Hydrogen gas can be taken from either methane, gasoline, biomass, coal or water. All of these sources have with it different amounts of pollution, technical challenges, and energy requirements. |

Problem 3 Fossil fuel emissions degrade the air quality all over the world a significant amount. The byproducts released after the use of fossil fuels are substantially changing the worlds climate (Global Warming). This is causing problems all over the globe because it's destroying the atmosphere making people more vulnerable to the suns ultra violet rays. |
Solution 3 If hydrogen is used it can greatly reduce the amount of pollution. In a fuel cell hydrogen will combine with oxygen creating electricity. The electricity produced can be used to power almost any modern day appliance. The great advantage of using hydrogen is when it combines with oxygen it only creates the byproducts water and heat. Water and heat do not damage the atmosphere like fossil fuel emissions. |
