zxcvThe beginning of the European Cup, professionally know as the UEFA Champions League, has been going on since the year of 1955. Unlike the FIFA competition, the European Cup has only allowed European Countries to enter the tournament. It has also been competition for every two year, unlike the FIFA tournament when it happens every four years. Even today this competition still continues on to provide entertainment for all soccer fans.

zxcvThe competition of the originally claimed Champions League was an idea that was created by two men, named L'Equipe and Gabriel Hanot. These two thought it would be a great ides, but were unable to think out a cause for their so called European wide club competition. The two men were able to get a help from a women by the name of Jacques Ferran. After making the basics for a challenge tournament, they announced that they would take place on Wednesdays under floodlights. L'Equipe introduced the start of the competition, but he did not mention to the teams or clubs that you had to be a champion of the country. These two men invited clubs that they thought would bring the most fan appeal to anywhere it was held.

zxcvNot long after April 1955, the games began and the first teams that were set out into the matches were the sporting club of Portugal , and the FK Partizan. This first match took place in Lisbon , and there it stayed as a 3-3 draw. The Real Madrid was seen as the ultimate teem back, being that they were undefeatable by winning the first five finals of the competition. The second and third teams that were looking good, were teams AFC Ajax, and FC Bayern Munchen, since both of them had won three finals in a row. Of course, even now none of the teams have been able to dominate the competition for long-term.

zxcvThrough the beginning years of the European Cup, the team Real Madrid was hanging on to the title of being the European champions. They held on to that cup strongly, until about four years later, they were defeated by the team named Benfica. As you look throughout the years of this competition, you can notice that the most successful team was the Real Madrid. Ever since 1955 till the year 2006 they have won about nine games with the inclusion of rule changes after they year 1992. This team has helped Spain become the biggest champion of the European Cup.

zxcvThrough the years that this competition has gone on, the rules have changed and as it seems they continue to change. IN the year of 1995, the rules were changed to where they were only allowing champions of only certain European countries to be admitted within the games. It seemed as though the rules, were being changed because someone was playing favorites, or was being upset that their favorite was not getting the chance they deserve. Of course there was the possibility that the rule makers were undecided about the rules.

zxcvThis competition has gone on for quite a while, but compared to the FIFA competition, it still has a long way to go. This competition is only meant for the competitors within the continent of Europe , where as the FIFA competition is meant for all competitors of the world. However this competition occurs about every 2 years, where as the FIFA one occurs every 4 years, and so there is something to enjoy while you wait for the FIFA tournament. Depending on how you feel about each competition, I'd say that they are both enjoyable in my opinion, so when ever you get the chance go see a soccer tournament.
