Animal-like protists
Protists that cannot produce their own food and must
eat to survive are called PROTOZOA. These organisms live in soil, water
and in living and dead organisms. Some protozoa are parasites. That
means that they live in or on other plants or animals. Some protozoan
can cause disease. Mosquitoes spread the protozoan that causes Malaria.
Many thousands of people die from this disease.
