Dense filaments can be very longer
and the colonies dense with fungi. When one of the filaments
contacts a
food supply, the entire colony mobilizes and feeds on the new
food. Should all food become depleted, spores are produced.
Although the fungal filaments and spores are microscopic,
the colony can be very large with individuals of some species
as big as the largest animals or plants. These spores are carried like
seeds to a new location. The fungus can then begin to grow on a new
food source.
