Content;; Homepage > About Us![]() Why on earth did we make a website about Battle of the Sexes ???Battle of the Sexes is an age old "battle" that is defined by one question: Which sex is superior? Some people have actually argued and believe that males are (they've backed it up with years of research). Really, both sexes are equal and should be receive the same rights. Yet, in today's world males seem dominant, they seem more in charge and out there compared to females. We were inspiried by Shirley Chisholm's speech, "Equal Rights for Women". The speech discussed women rights in the 60's and how women had little or no opportunities. Although Ms. Chisholm spoke of women's rights in the 60's, we saw how the same thing that happened to women then happens now. Then our group thought, "What could have caused women to have little or no rights? Also what caused women to be the target of sexist discrimination?" There was a much bigger picture, it was this "battle" between males and females. It was this struggle for power and dominance, it was the Battle of the Sexes. We had heard of this phrase or theory before, it's depicted a lot in the media. For example, it's shown a lot in comic strips. Our group was interested and fascinated by this really hot topic, so we decided to research and discuss about that in our thinkquest site. As we researched online, we found a lot of searches for 'Battle of the Sexes', actually about 1,250,000 searches. Some of the links were serious discussions and arguements, others were just jokes and criticism about the theory. We had decided to anaylze differences and similarities between the sexes. That included common issues, interests, intelligence, and behaviour. With that gathered data, we would find out why two sexes were fighting for the top. Our group had given many surveys to males and females. We had asked people of different culture, religion, ethicity, and origin. We found a lot of common answers, and also different answers. Our discovery of different opinions and answers did make sense, your opinion on the opposite sex or your own sex is determined by our environment and how you were raised up. If you live in a house where everyone had traditional gender roles, then you will most likely see no flexiblity in gender roles. We organized our data and research in graphs, and charts. Then, we came up with an idea for the website, the website would have two sidebars (one on the left-hand side, and one on the other). One sidebar would be the female side, and the other the male side. We would put all the female related links on the female sidebar and all the male related links on the male sidebar. To further organize the site, we colour coated the backgrounds of the pages. The female pages would be a pink colour (because stereotypically females like pink). The male pages would be a blue colour (because stereotypically males like blue). The silver pages are pages that are neutral or discuss both sexes.
