Moon Phases
First Crescent-
At around two days after the Dark moon you will see a tiny bit of the moon called the first crescent. The first crescent is the symbol that the waxing cycle has begun. It is a time for new birth and a new life. After three days of this moon phase, you will feel happier and more relaxed. The first crescent is an excellent time for you to cleanse some tools for your ritual or just to start anew.
Waxing Moon-
The Waxing moon as it is called is now more of a symbol of growing up to get more mature and more responsible. This time is great for doing magic and to just try to focus on your rituals and spells. It’s a really great time for spells this time, the spell is very good if it is going to bring good news to you.
Waxing Half Moon-
The waxing half moon is exactly what it is called, it is a shape of a half circle or half moon. This is the First Quarter of the waxing cycle. The half moon is dark on one side of it and bright on the other. The half moon is a time for balance or relaxation. Magic can be used to balance your spirits or how we can move towards our goals. The half moon is mostly used for love magic and spells.
Waxing Gibbous Moon-
The waxing cycle goes on until the moon looks as if only a piece the size of the first crescent is missing. So that means more then half the moon is bright.
Full Moon-
About fourteen days later of the waxing cycle the moon is completely illuminated. The moon is illuminated for only three whole days, which is the time when magic is at its greatest power. Many witches perform rituals in between these three days to be there most powerful. These witches will probably gather together to work magic on healing mainly but they can work on any old spell. This moon is a symbol of glory or completeness. The full moon is a time to be joyful and to rejoice because the Goddess is closest to the earth. The full moon is a time to work spells because they are at their strongest. The moon is at its fullest power now.
Waning Gibbous Moon-
Fourteen days after the full moon the moon will start depleting in size. One size of the moon is darker while the other side is illuminated.
Waning Half Moon-
Once the moon gets smaller it finally reaches the half way mark. This is the last quarter of the waxing cycle, or it is called the waning half moon.
Waning Crescent-
Then the moon decreases in size even more until only a crescent is left. Now the light is decreasing as well.
The Waning Moon is a time for studying and meditation. Mostly this time is for the repelling of magic. Now it is time for death and losing of power. Now it is time to work on your rituals and to start to remove unwanted energy or to stop bad habits. It is a time for endings. It is a time to make spells that get rid of bad emotions. Spells are often used to stop or end something.
Dark Moon / Dead Moon-
Now the waxing cycle is completely finished. The moon has waned all the way. The moon is not visible anymore. This stage is often called the Dead moon or the Dark moon. It is a symbol of death, not physical death but spiritual death. The dead moon usually lasts for about three days. It is at this point when the moon is at its weakest power. It is a time for rest where there are not a lot of magical workings. It is when the Goddess has turned her back on the earth and is letting the dark powers surround the planet. Now it is good time to do divination, because you are more able to focus on personal matters.
Lunar Eclipse-
A Lunar eclipse is when the moon enters into the earth’s shadow. A lunar eclipse doesn’t happen every year but only last a few hours. It is a very magical night perfect for rituals. Most witches would honor the Goddess this night.
