During the time of disaster the president that held us together was Franklin D. Roosevelt. He was president in the years 1933-1945. As the war ended Roosevelt did not see the end. He passed away on April 12, 1945. He died 6 months before the end. Harry S. Truman became the president os the United States.
While Roosevelt was president he delt with many difficulties. Not only did he deal with the war but he also had to deal with his own problem of poliomyelitis. This weakened him but he stuggled to regain use of his legs.
John Nance Garner, Henry Agard Wallace, Harry Truman were his vice presidents during his four terms.
