Terminology

There are a range of words that can be used to classify an illegal immigrant or refugee in the state that they’re in when they migrate to a different country. The term used depends on laws set by their identification passport or visa. Words that may be referred to when referring to illegal immigrants are “illegal immigrant, illegal alien, illegals, nonimmigrant overstayer, undocumented immigrant, and undocumented alien.” The illegal terms strictly refer to those who haven’t legally been registered for living in the country that they are attempt or to move to. The term immigrant is defined as, “a person who leaves one country to settle permanently in another,” immigrants are certified to live in the country they’ve moved to as long as they wish, as long as they’ve been documented and retain their visa. The terms, “undocumented”, or “alien” strictly refer to those who haven’t legally registered and received a visa from the country that they’re trying to live in. When or if they’re discovered the consequences usually result in being deported back to their native country. The term “nonimmigrant overstayer” refers to an immigrant who stays in the country where they’d received the visa, past the date that the visa expires.
