Mexican Illegal Alien Workers in the United States

Policy:

There is a debate over if Mexicans should just be able to come to the U.S. freely. There was once a time when part of the U.S. was a part of Mexico, but since it was taken from them by force, shouldn’t they still be able to come over? If the U.S. tried letting anyone from the underdeveloped countries come, though the U.S. population would double every 11 years. There will be economic growth if the population is increased due to immigration, but that would lead to more environmental pollution. So, which is more important?

Long-Run Solution:

The long-run solution of illegal immigration for Mexico is to make the living standards in Mexico better. Therefore there would not have to be so much emigration to the U.S. The U.S. should help aid the Mexican economical development too, but it could be hard since Mexico likes to be independent from the U.S. The U.S. should also try to push the Mexican government to work on getting better population control be offering solution methods like better education.

This long-run solution won’t just be simple, so there also needs to be some immediate policy…

Immediate Solution:

Many of the places that help the economic development in Mexico seem to be around the border, which attracts a lot of workers. That setup causes the increase of illegal immigration from Mexico so there should be an immediate solution for that. One solution can be just an open border.

There are a lot of pros and cons with the open border policy. The pros would be that the money spent on making immigration laws would decrease, there will not be a need for smuggling immigrants, and there wouldn’t be as much discrimination since they got in the U.S. from an open border. But if there is an open border, many unskilled workers would be coming to the U.S. Plus, there might not be as much skilled workers since there will be an overflow of unskilled workers. It would also be an illegal entryway for other people from other countries around the world, so the U.S. won’t really have an immigration control.
