My name is Mimi and I was born here in Seattle, and most of my family were from Vietnam. I speak both Vietnamese and English fluently.

My level of web experience is beginner. In the beginning, I had no idea what Flash or Dream weaver was and I had never got the chance to make a website before. My only experience with the web is limited to surfing the web, or just email or AIM.

When I first tried the new technology, I was completely lost. I kept on asking questions about using the various programs such as Photoshop, Flash, dream weaver, and Microsoft Publisher. I had never used any of these programs before, so learning how to use them proved to be quite a challenge for me. But once I got the hang of the basic usage of the programs, I had a great time doing experiments with the tools and I had gained a lot of useful information in making a website.

The sections that I had worked on was the flash intro, the interactive, history, reference, and stories.  For the flash intro, I created the design and how everything moved. For the interactive, I made the separate quizzes.

The toughest obstacles that I overcome was getting use to the amount of research that went behind the making of the website. I thought that all we had to do was just make some website with an educational value and add the basic information. After two weeks of doing summaries and revision draft, I found out that I was dead wrong about this whole project being easy. I learned that I had to be more time efficient and organized with the development of the website. My coaches for the creating of the website were Donna Bolima, Erin Ohnemus, and Byron MacKenzie of the University of Washington Upward Bound program.
