Honor Bound
In China, the highest wage that a person makes is equal to a fourth of what an average American makes. With the huge amount of people living in China, getting a job is highly competitive. This leads to the rise of unemployment as the demands of economic interest goes up. With so much competition among the people, only those who are sufficiently funded will have the opportunity to immigrate to the US.
Once illegal Chinese are in the US, these people would face many challenges. One, they would have to work twice as much as everyone else and two, they would be paid a lot lower. Another crucial point about illegal immigrants being over here is that they would need a lot of money saved or borrowed in China to help them start something out in the US.
But pride is an important thing in Chinese culture. Many times, illegal immigrants find themselves feeling ashamed of their living conditions in the US because they were not successful as they thought they would be. In addition, the pressure to be rich and successful is a big thing for honor. Most people thought that once they are in the US, life is going to be easy. In reality, most illegal immigrants will find themselves more stressed out and tired due to the fear and exhaustion of living in a new culture.
