Previous to the Atari Video Computer System, Plug-in cartridge games and consoles were unpopular and unsuccessful. It was released first in the United States in October, 1977. Games-
E.T. - The Extra Terrestrial is not at all considered to be a part of our Top Ten or even our Top 100. It is figuratively one of the worst games of all time. E.T. placed the home gaming industry into a rut that could have killed it permanently because the game was so difficult and confusing.

Pac man-
This first-port version of the popular arcade game was released in 1982. 12 million copies were made in hope that it would increase the console sales from tem million, but do to the low quality of the game it only sold 7 million copies. This led to large financial losses and helped place the home game industry in its rut.

Donkey Kong- In this game, you play as Jump Man, better know as Mario, and work your way up platforms while dodging barrels that Donkey Kong is throwing down at you. Your ultimate goal: get to the top and save the princess.

Pitfall-
Released by Activision in 1982, this popular game was considered to be the 1 st platform game ever made. It had no platforms though and games like Donkey Kong, that did have platforms, came out previous to it. It sold 4 million copies.

Space Invaders-
The Atari 2600 was released in 1977. It took till the holiday season of 1980 when Space invaders was released for it to make most of its sales. People flocked to the stores to buy the 2600 just so that they could play the popular arcade game at home.

Pong-
Table Tennis on the television. Pong is simple now, but when it came out it was revolutionary. Many say that it is what started home gaming. You control a paddle and bounce a ping pong ball across the screen to a paddle waiting to return it to you.

Asteroids-
Asteroids was made for many different consoles because it is one of the most popular games to ever be made. The Bank Switched cartridge was first used by the asteroids 2600 cartridge. This ability doubles the available ROM space.

Breakout-
Branching away from Pong, you use a paddle to bounce a ball into a wall of bricks. You eventually break the bricks away and can move on to the next level.

Atlantis-
In a struggle to survive you must use your 3 firing bases to destroy the Gorgon bomber ships before they destroy you. Inevitably you can’t survive, but a small pod does fly away leaving a story for the sequel, Cosmic Ark.

Demon Attack-
Similar to Space invaders, you must fire upon hovering demons from the surface of Krybor, the alien planet wish you are marooned on.
