History
Soccer, football, and rugby all
used to be 1 sport. It was all 1 sport until the year 1863 where football and
rugby both branched of into their own sports. When soccer was first created many
people where not good at it and they didn’t have the proper body equipment. Such
as shin guards and cleats.
Even
though soccer became famous in 1863 scientists have found evidence of soccer
that leads back to the 2nd and 3rd centuries B.C (Before
Christ) in China. The Chinese way of playing it
back then was
manual dating from the period of the Han Dynasty with the use of physical
education exercises, the "Tsu'Chu". This was kicking a leather ball filled with
feathers and hair. Scientists say that the ball was 30-40 cm in width. They
kicked the ball into small nets attached to bamboo canes. This was the closest
to the soccer we have today.
There was also a Japanese version of soccer that was played 500-600 years after
the time they played in China.
It is sort of like the game taps ( taps is a game played with a ball where 2
people try to pass the ball to each other without letting themselves or the ball
touch the ground while they are passing the ball to the other person) only with
your feet.
Now to the present. Soccer is now more famous than it ever was before.
Soccer now has refs and it has millions of fans. Soccer is one of the most
popular sports in the world.
