Rules
- There are 4 quarters in football each one at 15 minutes each
which is a total of 60 minutes in a game.
- The object of the game is to get touchdowns and field goals
which gets points and to prevent the other team from doing the same
thing.
- Each team is allowed 3 timeouts in the first half which is the
first two quarters and 3 timeouts in the second half as well.
- If the game is tied at the very end of the game it will go to
overtime which is 15 minutes. The first team to get a touchdown in
the overtime wins. If nobody gets a touchdown in the first overtime
another one will happen and so on.
- Which team kicks off {start the game}is determined by a coin
toss. The kickoff for the overtime is also determined this way.
- When a player with the ball is tackled it is called a down.
- There are 4 downs in which the team with the ball must progress
10 yards on the field either running it {running with the ball} or
throwing the ball.
- There are 100 yards on the field not including the touchdowns.
- There can only be 11 players on the field for each team and if
their 10 or less or 12 or greater numbers of players on the field
this will be a penalty for that team.
- There are many reasons for which teams might be charged a
penalty. If you do one the team that does it will be charged yards.
This means that if the offense is penalized they will have to go
back. And if the defense is penalized the offense will get to go
forward.
- A touchdown is when the team with the ball successfully gets to
other side and into the touchdown. They are worth 6 points.
- You can always kick the field goal after a touchdown and this is
worth 1 point. A field goal is when a kicker kicks the ball
successfully through 2 poles. When you’re on offense and it is 4th
down you are allowed to go for a field goal without getting a
touchdown and if you make it you will get 3 points.
- Another choice in the 4th down is that you can try another play
and try to finish the ten yards. If you do get the ten yards it will
be a first down. If you do not get the rest of the ten yards the
ball wherever it is will automatically be given to the other team.
- If the defense can put the offense all the way back on the
opposite side of the offensive touchdown this is called a safety.
You gain 2 points from this and the offense will have to punt it
away.
