A dictator is a single person who rules a country with absolute power and control. There have been uncounted numbers of dictators through history and many still exist today. One ‘notable’ dictator is Fidel Castro.
Fidel Castro (whose full name is Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz) is the leader of Cuba and has been for forty-eight years. He was born in Cuba in 1926. His father was a wealthy plantation owner. From an early age Castro was struck by the vast difference in wealth between the rich and poor in his country. When he was only thirteen he took part in a protest organized by the workers on his family plantation. Castro was sent to school and received a good education but preferred sports to schoolwork.
