The variety of blogs

Well, you must be wondering what does this mean. There are not just personal diaries but there are photo blogs, news blogs, video blogs and many many more. We have already been talking about them earlier, but let's inspect them from closer.

Photoblogs

A photoblog (or photolog) is a form of photo sharing and publishing in the format of a blog, but differentiated by the predominant use of and focus on photographs rather than text. deviantart.comPhotoblogging (the action of posting photos to a photoblog) gained momentum in the early 2000s with the advent of the moblog and cameraphones.

There are 3 basic types of photoblogs. Photoblogs on individual domains, photoblogs on blogging services such as Blogger that were designed primarily for text content, and photoblogs on photo specific blogging services such as fotolog or flickr.

In our honest oppinion deviantArt is as well a kind of photoblog because you can upload your own art, not only photos and take part in the community life. You can write journals which can be considered a type of blog as well. You can as well join chat rooms, start forum threads. They are also working on a clean portfolio section on which you can only show your art. That points out the blog style of the page. They have as well options to embed pictures from the user's main profile page into any other blog page.

Sketchblogs are almost the same. The only difference that you can post there sketches and drawings.

Video blogs (vlogs)

Video blog is a blog that includes video. Regular entries are typically presented in reverse youtube.comchronological order and often combine embedded video or a video link with supporting text, images, and other metadata.

Vlogs often take advantage of web syndication to allow for the distribution of video over the Internet using either the RSS or Atom syndication formats, for automatic aggregation and playback on mobile devices and personal computers. So it is like video-podcast. We will talk about Podcasting later.

Though many vlogs are collaborative efforts, the majority of vlogs and vlog entries are authored by individuals.

The video blogger doesn't need much only a PC, a webcam and a microphone. It happened once that someone above the age of 60 bought a computer and a webcam and started sharing videos over the internet. Now, he has quiet a lot of fans. He has received many replies through the system. These replies were also videos and could have been seen by anyone.

Podcasting (audio blogging)

On-line radio streaming wasn't enough. Now people can share audio content over the internet and these content can be played by any portable player which support this technology.

The host or author of a podcast is often called a podcaster. The term "podcast" is a portmanteau of the name of Apple's portable music player, the iPod, and broadcast; a pod refers to a container of some sort and the idea of broadcasting to a container or pod describes the process of podcasting.

Though podcasters' web sites may also offer direct download or streaming of their content, a podcast is distinguished from other digital media formats by its ability to be downloaded automatically, using software capable of reading feed formats such as RSS or Atom.

We think that last.fm is a kind of audio blog. At least you can store informations about what you are listening and make charts weekly, monthly or annualy. There is an option to listen to streamed radios which are maintained like podcast "radios".

Personal blog

blogger.comThe most widespread type of blogging. They are also called "web-diaries". These pages contain personal feelings and thought about a particular topic. It can be everything ranged from the daily routine to the political feelings

These pages aren't moderated so some of them may contain information which is considered corporate secret or violent, rude language. We will talk about the consequences later in this issue.

Personal blogs formed the thinking of such people who weren't allowed to talk freely and they uploaded text criticising the system.

Blog of friends

These blogs are made by friends and mostly represent the collaboration of them. If we look closer, this page is a friends' blog as well because it represents our work. You can see the result of our co-operation. The result of our research.

Information blogs or news blogs

These are made up of information about an actual topic. They are the closest relatives of the mainstream media. They are like any other traditional blog but the information on them is more topic oriented. Like football, world news, weather forecast, fashion, IT news and so on.

Summary

So mainly there can be any type of blog. It depends only the creativity of one who makes a blog. A blog can start as a traditional, personal blog but it can continue working as a news blog or a photoblog later.
