China: Develop Energy Sources Step by Step
The National Medium-and¨Clong-term Guideline for Science and Technology Development (2006-2020) said, about the priority on new energy development, ¡°We should develop big-sized wind energy power generating units, wind field construction on sea sides and land and western wind-energy dense section¡¯s technique and arming. We must carry out oil and gas together, intensify prospect for national oil and gas, extend international cooperation, grow up hiving oil ability and make oil instead of productions step by step. We should develop regenerated energy sources like wind energy, solar energy and biomass energy. Let us continue develop energy sources step by step.
U.S.A: Independent Energy Source
President Bush¡¯s plan of Independent Energy Source wants to make a new way to offer energy for American houses, offices and cars. America wants to build more electricity factories without any more pollution emission, to develop solar energy and wind energy, to invest more on lustration and safety nuclear energy and so on. President Bush thinks if such economy exceeds oil economy, America will not depend on Middle East¡¯s oil any more.
Russia: Energy Multi-supply
Russia is a big country of oil and natural gas. These years, the world prizes for energy become higher and higher, such as the oil prize. It does a great job for Russia economy. Still, Russia emphasizes that Energy Multi-supply is Russian¡¯s new way to develop energy sources.
Britain: Build the World¡¯s Biggest Wind Farm
Britain will build the world¡¯s biggest wind farm in the sea outfall of River Thames. This colossal work would cost ¡ê13,000,000, named ¡°London Scuppers¡±. If this project gets the license from the government successfully, ¡°London Scuppers¡± will begin in 2008 and be finished in 2011.
Japan: Flammable Ice under the Sea
Japan and India have discovered a lot of flammable ice under each sea. For this, they have started to study, open up and use it. Oil experts and chemists have known that flammable ice is methane hydrate. It is a kind of steady rime of water which was born in low temperature and high pressure environment. Methane is the household natural gas. These hydrates are nearly 10,000,000t, the same as double quality of all the oil, gas and coal that have not been mined on the earth. More than 90£¥ flammable ice is hidden under continental shelf in shallow sea( nearly 100-500m deep).1cm3 flammable ice may release 164 cm3 gases. Just stick of match can fire this kind of ¡°ice¡±.
Sweden: Completely Give Up Oil
In the field of energy consumption, Sweden walks ahead of any other big country. The Swedish Government declared on February 7th 2006 that they are planning to be the first country that completely does without oil through 15 years¡¯ efforts. They said that they need not build any other nuclear power station. In the last ten years, Sweden has already changed all the warming heat source to terrestrial heat source and deposed heat source. Now, south Sweden is building a very big wind farm, it will function in 2009. European Union¡¯s statistics said that 23£¥ of Swedish consume energy sources is from recyclable energy sources, which nearly quadruples that of the European Union average level(6%). Swedish statistics said only 32% of energy sources is from oil - a big difference compared with 77% in 1970. Besides, nearly 1/3 of energy sources is offered by nuclear power stations, with the rest from coal and natural gas. In the December of 2005, the Sweden Government passed a law, compelling that every gas station should have more than one kind of recyclable energy sources. The Swedish average level of using biology ethanol fuel is more than any other European Union country. To reduce pollution, every liter of oil that Swedish gas stations sell has been mix with 5% biology ethanol.
Iceland: The Hydrogen Societal Policy Is Stressed.
At the beginning of June, 2005, many countries attended the meeting of fulfilling the Hydrogen societal policy and intensifying the technology of storing Hydrogen in Iceland, including the five countries in north Europe, Russia, the USA and Japan. During the meeting, besides Iceland, many countries had introduced the materials for storing Hydrogen, fuel batteries, the use of warming heat and other latest achievements about Hydrogen. After Iceland announced the Hydrogen societal policy in 1990, many big companies have joined the plan. Iceland¡¯s scientific research organs took an active part too, and have already made a great deal of achievement, attracting more attention from other countries.
