In 1999, Joe Principe and Mr. Precision (former members of 88 Fingers Louie) created Rise Against. Their original name was Transistor Revolt and in 2000 released a self produced demo. A year later they signed with Fat Wreck Chords where they released two albums entitled The Unraveling (2001) and Revolutions per Minute (2003). When they recorded Siren Song of the Counter Culture they were signed with DreamWorks records. But Universal Music Group absorbed DreamWorks records and Rise against ended up on Geffen Records (a Universal Music Group subsidiary). It was there where they released Siren Song of the Counter Culture in August 2004. Their fourth album was released on July 4 th 2006 and was called The Sufferer and the Witness.
