Field Trip to the Civil War Encampment
at Victor, New York.

The team was able to attend an actual Civil War encampment, set up just for them, at the Gonondagon Historical Site in Victor, New York. There, they were able to see what life was like in an actual Civil War campsite during the winter and interact with Civil War soldiers from the 140th New York Infantry, Company B.

The team got to cook ham over the campfire, grind coffee with a bayonet, eat hardtack (without the worms in it), experience guard duty and actually fire a real Civil War rifle. As a bonus, they invited students from the whole school to attend this private event for additional enrichment. It was a cold, windy and snowy day, but everyone had a lot of fun.
