| Battles With Dual Names. |

There is a difference of opinion when it comes to naming some of the battles, even today. The Northern forces often named battles after rivers or creeks, while Southern forces often named them after nearby towns. In fact, the Civil War itself was known by multitude of different names. A few of the dual-named battles are listed here along with some of the alternate names for the war.
