In South Africa, people of lots of different cultures live together, and sometimes they have cultural disagreements. Some cultures are more environmentally destructive than others.CULTURES
The San people live closer to nature than the Europeans and so have more respect for the environment, because without it they wouldn't survive. They don't kill animals for pleasure but for food and they don't produce chemical wastes. They live in the Kalahari desert where there is little water and vegetation. They cannot overhunt the animals because there are not many to hunt, and those there are have to be hunted carefully, beacause if they run out the San's culture will die out too.
The Xhosa were dependent upon their cattle and therefore had to be careful about overgrazing which European farmers do on a daily basis. If the Xhosa had overgrazed, their cattle would have died out, and therefore, their culture would have too.
The European culture is the common name of the culture in America and Europe. It is governed by industry and money, therefore, many of the people forget about nature and dump chemical wastes, overgraze their cattle, destroy animals' habitats and deforest. These things lead to contamination of the land and air, soil erosion, extiction of animals and the lack of oxygen in the future.
