The Great White Shark, white pointer, white death, flying white, white shark, grand requin blanc, witdoodshaai, gran tiburon blanco. Whatever you want to call it, in what ever language, it means the same to so many people around the globe: the man-eating shark. Because of this, up to one million Great Whites are killed every year compared to the three or four humans killed by Great Whites each year.

This website dispels the myths and reveals the facts about Great White sharks.  It not only aims to inform fishermen, swimmers and other ocean enthusiasts about shark safety and conservation, but also to be a resource for school children grades 3-7 with projects and assessments.

In South Africa, people are very concerned about human/shark interactions. Great Whites here are protected and their numbers may be increasing, but so are the numbers of attacks on humans. THis webpage looks at the reasons for this as well as the efforts being taken to prevent further attacks.
